Statement
Anna Wilson-Patterson’s current work explores her fascination with the haunting coastal landscape of Hastings, Rye and Dungeness. Fishermen’s shacks, rusted boats, railway carriages and groynes punctuate the open vistas of shingle, grass, sand and sea. Walking her elegant greyhounds daily at dawn and dusk she experiences the seasons change.
“My gestures of adding, dragging and removing paint imitate the natural world, the tidal ebb and flow, the movement of clouds and wind. I am drawn to desolate places. I also enjoy monoprinting pointy nosed dogs, combining line drawings with surprising textures”
Anna is a qualified art teacher and has worked in community settings since 1991. She opened Arts Hut in Herstmonceux, East Sussex in 2007 selling her own and other local artists work. She currently sells her paintings & prints online around the world and through galleries & art fairs across the South East of England.
